Sergio Mendes - Timeless (2006)
2006 is without a doubt a very important year for Will I Am, well-known hip-hop producer, thinking mind and singer of the Black Eyed Peas.
Among his contribution there is Sergio Mendes’s album, a Brazilian artist who has always set apart his career thanks to his crave for experimentation and fusion between scholar and pop music (and not just Brazilian). In fact he has played and collaborated with mainly Americans jazz and pop artists, and Timeless is the proof.
Sergio Mendes and Will I Am (Red Hot Chili Peppers enthusiast) had fun to reinterpret Mendes’ greatest hits (among all we like to cite Mas Que Nada played with the Black Eyed Peas, and Jobim‘s Surfboard) recorded with the help of numerous hip-hop, soul, and R&B artists such as John Legend, and the legendary Stevie Wonder.
The result is a fantastic album in which Sergio Mendes’s songs, already fine in their original version, pick up precious flavors and tones that make them quite interesting also for the younger audience.
It needs also to be underlined the appearance of Sergio Mendes’ wife, Gracinha Leporace, beautiful voice.
In conclusion a great album that could be labeled under different genres, but whichever is considered the most suitable one, Timeless is a beautiful album that deserve your attention.
A must have!
