
I don’t deny that the recording studio’s snapshots, framed in the album cover inset, representing a kind of World’s Champions against the Rest of the World (the names in it crack me up) and the train pass’ reproduction of the young Mc Laughlin did represent another good reason to approach “Electric guitarist”. “Pat Metheny Group” (1978) is the first of the classic album in the great Missouri-born guitarist career; the same Metheny still strongly considers himself a debtor of the Weather Report and Keith Jarrett’s style for this album.
In my opinion it still is one of his best things or at least one of his most important recordings.
