London/Berlin-based Erased Tapes Records celebrate their 4th year with a brand new FREE digital label compilation.

Since early 2007 German-born initiator and founder of London/Berlin-based music label Erased Tapes Records, Robert Raths, has carved out a reputation for discovering innovative new artists from all around the globe. The label comprises a wide spectrum of music – from modern classical to hometronica, intelligent dance to unclassifiable pop music from the future – challenging and inspiring people of all ages alike.

In a recent interview for The Sunday Times, Raths explained: “Music has become so normalised into everything we do that many of the songs we consume on the radio, on our TV or computer screens, have somehow become sanitised. You listen to them, perhaps even get them stuck in your head, but they lack visceral appeal and imagination. So I guess people have started searching for a quiet place that allows them to reflect and dream, something thought-provoking, rather than bombarding.” It’s far from impossible, therefore, to imagine a world that has flipped on its axis, with kids infuriating their rock-loving parents by playing classical music. “The breaking of conventions might be less obvious than the breaking of windows and two-finger salutes,” Raths says, “but nevertheless I hear a subtle notion of change, which I sense is of this time.”

THE SHIVER: SUMMER TOUR 2011

The Dark-Rock band THE SHIVER is proud to announce the Summer Tour 2011 to celebrate 5 years of career.

The band will be opening act for Papa Roach in Ekaterinburg and S.Petersburg (Russian Federation), then they will join the Ravenheart Music Fest in Birmingham (UK) and play with Winter in Eden in Nottingham (UK).

The Shiver will perform in Belgium, Germany and Italy in festivals and acoustic gigs also.

After the great feedback of “A New Horizon” and the release of “The Fragile Sound” music videoclip The Shiver will publish an Acoustic EP during the Summer.

Big changes and news for the Melodic Heavy Metal band of Alghero. Change of addition of guitarist and keyboards. Emanuele Ninu, guitarist of the band since 2007, left the band for personal reasons and health problems for which all the band wish a fast recovery and offer max support. Emanuele has been a member of the band in the highlights of path, such as the UK tour in 2009 and the registration of the band’s first album “Mirroring Identities“. In addition, he participated in the drafting of some songs that will end on next album. Emanuele will be succeeded by Cristian Sotgiu, already active for many years in the music scene, composer, guitarist and violinist. The band says they are very happy and positive for the future and they are already working to readjust all content and the immediate plans.

Other news, certainly more cheerful, is the entrance into the formation of pianist and composer Giulio Fanelli, who will enrich the compositions of the band in a original and creative way.

“It will be a totally new and exciting path. We are motivated by this change and confident about what will happen in the future“- said the band.

Along with the renewal of the line-up and graphics, the band will pay homage to the fans with an exclusive preview of a song entitled “A REASON TO LIVE” that will be part of the next album, listenable HERE. This song contains the lines rhythms played by Emanuele Ninu.

only a few weeks are left, until the 7th Amphi Festival starts off again. On 16th & 17th July 2011 the Orkus Open Air at Tanzbrunnen Cologne serves perfect enjoyment for musicfans worldwide to answer the all-known question: „Warum ist es am Rhein so schön?“ (Why is it so beautiful at the Rhein area?). By no surprise, anyone without a ticket should hurry-up now, as tickets for the festival will be sold-out very soon!

New!!! – Café hall at the Staatenhaus, including art gallery, merchants & more

Shortly before the festival we are able to announce another firecracker, boosting the overall festival experience! Like every year we´ve worked intensively on improving the Amphi Festival. Located at a sidewing of the Staatenhaus, we´re pleased to provide you with a full grown AMPHI FESTIVAL CAFÉ.

Alongsinde the well-known beachclub the Amphi Festival Café is planned to offer another big chill-out-zone with more than 700 seats, tables and additional gastronomic specialties. Also the café hall will be tied together by moody lighting and the Obsolete Angels art gallery, where famous photoartist ANNIE BERTRAM is going to present a collection of her most fascinating works.

As another attractor we expanded the merchant gallery, vitalizing the café setting the Staatenhaus with lots of interesting additional stands. Also new: the signings sessions, formerly located at the entrance of the Tanzbrunnen, have moved near the café-area inside the Staatenhaus.

MELOTRON completing the Amphi Festival 2011

There´s hardly another German speaking band within the last years, that created such an own unique profile like MELOTRON. From Moscow to Washington, Buenos Aires to Kabul or Tel Aviv… MELOTRON are the most exciting export-hits within the field of German written electro-pop and an undisputable capacity within the electro scene worldwide. It is our pleasure to complete the current Amphi Festival programme with MELOTRON and their singer AndyK, who already took part in the first festival, being our host in 2005. Now in 2011 he is playing with his band on the Amphi stage for the very first time!

MUSIK SOLDAT – Wolfgang Flür (ex-Kraftwerk) moving to the Staatenhaus

Music pioneer – visionary – book author: as a former member and drummer of the world famous German band Kraftwerk from 1974 till 1986, Wolfgang Flür surely dwells among the most important personalities in German music history. At the Amphi Festival we welcome Wolfgang Flür with his DJ project MUSIK SOLDAT. As a reaction to the positive feedback we received, Wolfgang Flür will not kick off Saturday´s aftershowparty at the theatre, but perform a “Saturday night late special” at the Staatenhaus, serving an extra portion “Elektroknirsch!”.

Even the programme for our third stage, at the Theater am Tanzbrunnen, has now been completed. Beside photo-artist ANNIE BERTRAM, presenting her latest book „Obsolete Angels“, H.O.N.E.Y. (Welle: Erdball) and Milo Mundt (Protovision) are planning to hold a frivolous interactive talk about C64 – PORNOGRAPHIC-ART (admittance: P18).

The album has been recorded in Mathlab Recording Studio by Jonathan Mazzeo in Prato (Italy) and mixed by Fernando Asensi in Valencia (Spain) at Fireworks Studios. Mika Jusila mastered the whole project at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki (Finland).

AmbraMarie has been portrayed as one of the most beautiful and powerful female voices of the Italian rock scene. Straight afterwards her partecipation at the infamous talent show “X-Factor” during 2009 (Italian edition, broadcasted by channel RaiDue) she took up a long and important tour hitting italian and foreign major cities. The young Italian rocker from Bergamo has been recently working at the West Link Studio with producer Alessandro Paolucci (Prozac +, Vanilla Sky) on the making of her long-awaited debut album which will be released in Autumn 2011.

AmbraMarie’s team includes Steve Lyon (Depeche Mode, The Cure, Paul McCartney).

Thanks to her strong personal experience and the help and collaboration of her band, AmbraMarie’s path as a composer eventually took shape. Every track on the album has been developed attuned to her powerful, scratched yet melodic voice and along with a rock fondness.

The album, containing 14 tracks, will be released in 2 versions, one for the Italian market, the other designed for the foreign market.

The album title “Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish” is a quotation from a famous speech delivered by Steve Jobs at the Stenford University. Those words, in fact, strongly impressed AmbraMarie.

World’s End Girlfriend is a Japanese composer whose work blends complex sound structures with beautiful melodies, reaching from electronic glitch to jazz-infused rock to modern classical. Captivating, enthralling and like nothing you’ve heard before, WEG makes for a surprising yet central addition to London contemporary music label Erased Tapes.

His brand new album ‘SEVEN IDIOTS’ will finally bereleased outside of Japan this April. Shifting seamlessly from catchy pop hooks to elaborate orchestrations and brutal IDM drones, it’s an irregular pop album – filled with twists and turns that will haveyou reaching for the repeat button. At first recorded with vocals, he took the unusual composing method of building up the songs before erasing all of their vocal parts. By dismantling and re-constructing each track, WEG has produced a genre-defying album that truly transcends categorisation.

World’s End Girlfriend hails from Nagasaki Kyushu, Japan and currently resides in Tokyo. Fascinated by his father’s classical music collection,he began his foray intosound at the tender age of 10, creating his earlycompositions on keyboard, guitar, tape recorders and computers. To date he has composed more than 600 songs, for the most part unreleased testaments of his early experimentations.

WEG first came on Europe’s radar in 2002, invited to perform at Barcelona’s renowned Sonar Festival. On the back of the collaborative album ’Palmless Prayer / Mass Murder Refrain’ with Japanese post-rockband Mono, he embarked on extensive tours in Europe and North America in 2005, returning for an appearance at ATP Festival in 2008. Recently performing as a seven-piece ensemble, WEG’sostentious live show is currently selling out 800 capacity venues in Asia. Filmmakers seem smitten too, with the Go Shibata directed movie ‘LateBloomer’ (2004) and the internationally renowned ‘Air Doll’ (2009) by award-winning director Hirokazu Koreeda both featuring soundtracks created by World’s End Girlfriend.

The music video for ‘Les Enfants du Paradis’, taken from ‘SEVEN IDIOTS‘, has already received over 90.000 views on YouTube. Directed by Yohei Saito, this beguiling visual represents the high level of interest given to WEG’s music, not widely available outside of Asia – until now.

Surrounded by a magnificent modern metal scenery, a theatrical soprano goes back to the roots of Italian Opera Lirica and leads us through this wonderful Post-Opera masterpiece…

Crysalys are the heralds of a new musical hybrid named Post-Opera. They already recorded two self-released EPs (“White Lotus On Acheron’ Shroes”, 2007 and “…And Let The Innocence Dream”, 2009) and now they are ready to enter the spotlight with their highly-awaited debut album “The Awakening Of Gaia”.

The Italian band’s first full length will be released by WormHoleDeath/Aural Music on September 23rd. The album has been mixed by Chris Donaldson (Cryptopsy, The Agonist, Beneath the Massacre etc.) and mastered at Finnvox Studios by Mika Jussila, while Travis Smith (Katatonia, Opeth, Nevermore etc.) has created a wonderful graphic concept for the band’s apocalyptic fairytale.

“The Awakening Of Gaia” starts with the release of the band’s first video directed by Salvatore Perrone (Exilia, Serenity, Bring Me The Horizon etc.). The song could be described as a balanced mix of operatic grandeur and futuristic vibes.

Italian techno deathsters Kenos announce the departure from the band’s singer Alex Giudice, while maintaining the reasons confidentiality.

Michele Spallieri (Grivers, Symmetric Disorder) will be new the new singer of the band. The band is currently in the terms of upcoming events with Michele in the new frontman role.

Love Meets Rage is the new album from Code Pie.

Available April 5th on Flagless and Indiecater records (and March 29th on Bandcamp), the 10-song album is the third full-length release from the Canadian band. Love Meets Rage was culled from 2 years worth of recorded jam sessions at Code Pie’s Dirt Studio in Montreal.

Legendary black / thrashers Necrodeath are set to release their definitive retrospective CD ‘The Age Of Fear’ May 26th, 2011 and June 14th, 2011 on Scarlet Records.

Featuring songs from their entire back catalogue, starting with 1987’s legendary debut album ‘Into The Macabre’ until their latest ‘Old Skull’, ‘The Age Of Fear’ captures the entire essence of the band to this day whilst awaiting their next new album, to be released in the fall of 2011 on Scarlet Records.

‘The Age of Fear’ features 15 classic tracks including the previously unreleased “onyric” version of the song ‘Queen Of Desire’, featuring guest appearances by Giorgia Gueglio (Mastercastle) on vocals and Botys Beezart (Godyva) on piano, the stunning cover version of Slayer’s ‘Black Magic’ and the live version of the band’s own ‘The Theory’. Joining Nitzer Ebb, Covenant, Feindflug, Hocico, Agonoize and Leæther Strip Belgium´s supreme hard-electro ambassador Johan van Roy expands the meeting of finest to an electronic G7 summit with SUICIDE COMMANDO. Equally enthralling, though in a different way, the synth-pop veterans DE/VISION take it on a little more gently. Also IN STRICT CONFIDENCE have confirmed their appearance at the Amphi Festival 2011, while the new 80´s-influenced all star project FUNKHAUSGRUPPE, featuring members of Welle: Erdball, Die Perlen, Hertzinfarkt and Sonnenbrandt, will climb the stage with an exclusive festival performance.

Synth-pop in a different „mode“ awaits you with pianist Lars Arnold. Nettwerk is excited to announce that PETER MURPHY has signed to its label roster to release his upcoming ninth studio album, aptly titled NINTH, out JUNE 6, 2011. The former Bauhaus iconic frontman has also just announced spring tour dates, including a stop in Austin, TX during SXSW.

Murphy is the latest addition to Nettwerk’s growing label roster, which currently includes active artists like Ladytron, Angus & Julia Stone and fellow recent signing William Fitzsimmons, as well as catalogue artists like Skinny Puppy and Severed Head. Says Mark Jowett, Nettwerk VP of International A&R/Publishing, “We are honored to be releasing Peter’s excellent new album Ninth and to introduce him to a whole new bastion of fans.”

Currently living between Istanbul and New York City, Peter ignited a new generation of fans in 2009 while appearing with Trent Reznor during his final Nine Inch Nails tour at New York’s Terminal 5. He caused a sensation joining Reznor and his band to perform The Downward Spiral favorite “Reptile,” along with Murphy’s “Strange Kind Of Love” and Bauhaus‘ “Kick in the Eye.”

Always one to capture the zeitgeist of the moment, 2010 saw Murphy also in a central cameo appearance as “The Cold One” in Eclipse, the most recent installment of the Twilight series. When approached about the role, flattered and amused by the offer, Murphy said, “Who else could have and should have done it?” he laughed. “It was really lovely and smart of David Slade to ask me…I was honored, actually.”

Ninth marks Murphy’s first solo album since the successful Bauhaus reunion tour in 2005, which included an appearance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, where Peter famously descended to the stage upside down on a chain from the rafters. Be prepared for more of Peter Murphy’s unequaled performances on his spring tour, featuring new material from the forthcoming Nettwerk album Ninth.

The narrative of the past decade of electronic music would not be complete without a chapter on Ladytron – although the Liverpool-born quartet’s global fanbase would argue that the band wrote the book on it.
Over a ten year career the foursome of Daniel Hunt, Reuben Wu, Helen Marnie and Mira Aroyo have fashioned four albums of deliriously buzzing, whip-smart electro-pop that have kept them ahead of the curve and in a league of their own.
In celebration of their ten years together, the quartet are releasing ‘The Best Of 00 – 10’ featuring key tracks from 604;  Light & Magic, Witching Hour and Velocifero  - and two brand new songs.  A two-disc deluxe version will include band favourites and an 80-page photo book for collectors.
In addition to this Best Of Ladytron will be re-issuing their seminal albums 604, Light & Magic and Witching Hour – which include bonus tracks - from January 17th.
Widely recognised as a inspiration for many of today’s artists who embrace the electronic genre, Ladytron formed in the late 1990’s.  With their shared appreciation of French electronica, Krautrock and various modes of pop, the band stood apart in a musical landscape then populated by guitar-based bands and house music.  Their debut 604 – including such classics as Playgirl – won universal acclaim and they continued to develop their sound with 2002’s landmark album Light & Magic featuring the singles Seventeen, Blue Jeans and Evil.  In the intervening years, Ladytron – having expanded their touring line up to include a bassist and drummer – delivered the albums Witching Hour and Velocifero winning further critical plaudits and toured extensively around the world.  The release of this Best Of precedes a new studio album scheduled for release later this year.

Great, very great, absolutely great news from PTSD side. First of all the band reached a great deal with one of the best drummer in the world, MARCO MINNEMANN (now rumored to be the new DREAM THEATER drummer but also with Kreator, Necrophagist, Ephel Duath, Joe Satriani) who has already recorded the drums parts for the next full lenght probably ready to be released in the summer via My Kingdom Music with the title “A Sense Of Decay“. The album will be anticipated by the single “Event Horizon” which will feature the videoclip of the song and other unreleased stuff.

It will contain 13 songs for about 60 minutes of extreme articulated and variegated Post Metal. For the mix of the album PTSD have a deal with JIM CARUANA (among his works there are mainstream stars of the International music business like Jeff Buckley, Black Eyed Peas, Beyonce etc.).

At the same time the band is organizing with some agencies a tour in Europe (15 gigs) with the same Marco Minnemann on drums.

Expect great news from this side in the next weeks.

CROWN OF AUTUMN join forces with My Kingdom Music.

My Kingdom Music is absolutely delighted to announce that they have signed one of the best Italian Metal band ever: CROWN OF AUTUMN. We will release their brand new album titled “Splendours From The Dark” on May 6th.

Crown Of Autumn rise again after more than a decade of enchanted sleep with their dreamy melodies, epic rides, warlike fury and of course those typical medieval inserts which made their 1997 debut “The Treasures Arcane” a true underground cult.

For the 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl Accident, Ambientaria Records has gathered many Dark Ambient artists, including famous ones like Northaunt or Atomtrakt, Svart1, for a Compilation project.

The album will be released on April 1st, 2011.

Experimentation, research, improvisation on new forms of sound, with an eye towards the most significant expressions of past sound is the type of SIGNAL, a festival dedicated to contemporary music and its many side languages now in its fifth edition. As September 23 and during 10 days, various artists and musicians with a leading role in contemporary national and international landscape will be busy between shows, live sets and performances, among them Herman Kolgen, Otolab, Ikue Mori, Erikm, Sonoma. In Cagliari two locations will be the backdrop to the events: the “Castello San Michele”, that will host live sets and video, and the Faculty of Architecture, dedicated mainly to the workshops.

Organized by TiConZero, active since 1995 in Cagliari in music and theater, the festival aims since its first edition to propose innovative sound tracks mainly thanks to the use of new technologies applied to sound. This year, more than in past editions, SIGNAL presents itself as a festival of performing arts on many levels, where the perception size exceeds preset limits of art, sound and image and sound visual suggestions merge completely with the space.
To enrich the offerings of the festival there are workshops, in collaboration with the Faculty of Architecture of Cagliari, which will see the active participation of the audience space to methods of production and processing of video mapping but also for some considerations reflection on ecology with Project “Alig’Art” creativity applied to recycled items.

AUDIOVISUAL PERFORMANCES

Extremely varied the proposed audiovisual performances programmed in the Department of Architecture in the picturesque scenery of the Castello San Michele, for the occasion theater LIGHT CAST interactive video installation handled by Manuel Carreras, Marcello Cualbu, Michael Casanova of the collective Quit.
It starts with Herman Kolgen on Thursday, September 23, a multimedia and interdisciplinary artist of Canadian origin. Kolgen can be defined as a audiocinetico sculptor, since fingerprints can transform sound into images that expand into space with the use of magnetic fields, x-rays, pigment particles and noise. His installation, “Dust”, is inspired by Duchamp and Man Ray photography of the twenties.

The second day will see the meeting of two islanders artists: Paolo Sanna, percussionist and explorer of rhythms, and Uncodified (Corrado Altieri), for the performance “Tamaire” conceived and improvised on the striking steel sculptures by Andrea Forges. Subsequently, the Catalan draft Sonom will offer a fascinating experiment with holographic projections on synchronized sound and music.

The four Sonom musicians through audiovisual installations focus relations between the waves and the human perception, using practical hybrid technology from recycled materials and tools to self analogical and digital devices.
The third day, Saturday, September 25, Stefano Guzzetti from Cagliari will propose the live performance with “Microcosmos”, audiovisual performance based on electronic sounds and field recordings which describe a life of their own little worlds.

To accompany the music, the images created by Svart1 (Raymond Gaviano). From 22.30 space will be given to Otolab, a Milanese collective that includes musicians, DJs, video artists, architects and web designers for a unique path whose objective is testing and audiovisual research. Together the Propose Black Gardens, images and sounds mixed in the exploration of a metaphorical garden at night.
The following Thursday will be the turn of Fabrizio Casti, Oscar Pizzo, Claudio Sinatti and Mauro Zurria together for a unique ensemble that combines piano and flute to an eclectic and original sound and visual work, with the music of Philip Glass, Somei Satoh, Giacinto Scelsi.

On Friday, October 1 the Castle will host “Helycrisum Stoechas, pictures and videos made by Svart1 from Cagliari. The video is shot entirely in Sardinia (between the Cagliari Saline and Funtanazza) and industrial landscapes that capture the stunning backdrop to dark sounds and heavy array of dark-ambient.

Followed by “Treasure Hunt”, the concert came from a search of the residence resulted in compositional Art Ikue Mori, Maja Ratkje and Sylvie Courvoisier, Alessandro Olla and Simon Balestrazzi: the objective is to explore and test sound, as in a treasure hunt, starting from different tracks and get to explore geographies, sensitivity, far - away experiences. .
On the final evening, the Department of Architecture of Cagliari, is entrusted to a unique interaction between the greek-roman fight and experimental music: starting from the stimulus provided by two athletes engaged in combat, Gianluca Pischedda and Francesco Calandrino create an improvisation sound that draws on the disciplines of physics and Motor. Calandrino, from Sicily, is an eclectic artist who works in the field of sound research through the use of low-fi equipment.
In closing, eRikm, artist of Marseille, will propose a set of sounds and music on vinyl, where the composition is based on a process in which accidental sound construction come together as thought, instinct and an extraordinary musical sensitivity.
WORKSHOP

The session will take place in various laboratory spaces at the Department of Architecture, in Via Santa Croce in the Castello district of Cagliari, and at the headquarters of TiConZero, in via Libia 9 in Quartucciu (Cagliari).
Like every year, great space to work on improvisation, composition, research: Geography Sound explores the creative possibilities arising from the encounter between different sensibilities that will gather for an artistic residency in the study the TiConZero between September 25 and October 2: Ikue Mori, a Japo-American artist considered one of the pioneers of the no-wave and noise, which is currently committed to working with artists like John Zorn Electric Masada, Maja Ratkje, Norwegian composer and electronic musician, and Sylvie Corvousier, French composer and pianist who moves between radical jazz and contemporary improvisation.

The ARCHITECTURAL MAPPING laboratory is based upon external projections(Department of Architecture, from September 27 to 30) and uses the software Quartz Composer: the teachers are, Manuel Carreras, Marcello and Michele Casanova Cualbu who illustrate the possibility of using the façade of a building as a three-dimensional screen to enliven and decorate.
The novelty of 2010 SIGNAL ALIG’ART workshops will be devoted to creative recycling with three events scheduled on Saturday October 2, at the Department of Architecture: ECOPAPERDESIGN, edited by Michael Casanova, using paper and cardboard in furniture production with zero environmental impact; MY TRASH HOME designed by MadeInTrash, with the aim of giving new life to obsolete or insignificant objects using creativity, and SOUND RECYCLING, edited by Michael Taylor, on the production of sounds starting from recycling of everyday objects.

EXHIBITIONS

By the collective Alig’Art Sustainable Happiness is the project which includes a workshop and an exhibition ALIG’ART EXPO ‘. Strictly recycled materials, that have lost their function and have acquired a new vitality, musical instruments born from materials no longer useful or processing residues are the focus of this exhibition that can be visited between September 24 and October 2 in the Department of Architecture spaces.
